The math
How does using my HSA/FSA save me money?
HSA/FSA accounts were created so individuals could use pre-tax money to pay for expenses used to treat, mitigate, or prevent a diagnosed medical condition.
Because HSA/FSAs use pre-tax money, you’re getting more purchasing power for your dollars. Rather than pay taxes on income and then spend it on health items, qualified customers can use pre-tax funds to invest in root cause interventions.

Common questions
How does using my HSA/FSA account save me money?
Contributions to HSA and FSA accounts are made before income tax is applied. Spending those dollars on eligible health products means you’re using money that was never taxed — for most people that works out to roughly 30% more purchasing power, depending on your bracket.
What are FSA and HSA accounts?
Both let you set aside pre-tax income for qualified medical expenses. An HSA (Health Savings Account) pairs with a high-deductible health plan and rolls over year to year. An FSA (Flexible Spending Account) is employer-sponsored and typically must be used within the plan year, which is why many people spend down balances in Q4.
Can I use my HSA/FSA at Thera?
Yes. Select Truemed as your payment method at checkout and pay with your HSA or FSA card. Eligibility for any individual purchase is determined by a licensed provider after a short health assessment.
Can I use my regular credit card at checkout?
You can. Complete the Truemed intake, and if a provider issues your Letter of Medical Necessity, submit it along with your receipt to your plan administrator for reimbursement.
What is a Letter of Medical Necessity, and how is this compliant?
An LMN is documentation from a licensed provider stating that a product supports the treatment, management, or prevention of a specific medical condition. IRS rules allow HSA/FSA funds to be spent on such items when an LMN is on file. Truemed’s provider network issues the letter after reviewing your individual health intake — Thera has no role in that determination.
Are there fees associated with using Truemed’s services?
There’s no additional charge to you for completing the qualification. You pay the same price for your Thera order either way.
When should I use my FSA/HSA dollars?
If you have an FSA, check your plan’s deadline — many forfeit unused funds at year end or shortly after. HSA balances roll over indefinitely, so there’s less time pressure.
How long does it take to receive my Letter of Medical Necessity?
The health assessment takes about two minutes to complete. If you qualify, a licensed provider issues your LMN within 24 to 48 hours.
I don’t have an HSA/FSA. Can I still shop?
Of course — check out normally with any payment method. Nothing about your Thera order changes.
What if I’m not approved?
Your order is processed as a standard purchase and charged normally. There’s no penalty and nothing to cancel.
